SAN FRANCISCO, CA — October 8, 2024 — ivWatch, LLC, the IV safety company, announced it reached the top 10 in the Startup World Cup, held in San Francisco at the Hilton Union Square. The Startup World Cup is the leading startup competition globally and boasts over 50,000 attendees, 2,500 investors, and 500 speakers.
Pegasus Tech Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based global venture capital firm, organized the event. A panel of investors judged the pitches of over 8,000 applicants from around the world, with 83 making it to the semi-finals and only10 making it to the final round, with just five U.S.-based companies reaching this pinnacle. Previously, ivWatch won the Startup World Cup Regional Final held at the Zeiders American Dream Theater in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where President and CEO Gary Warren delivered a dynamic and compelling pitch for ivWatch’s innovative, FDA-cleared and CE-marked technology — while the ivWatch sensor technology seamlessly monitored an IV in his arm. Continuing on to take the stage in the semi-finals and then advancing to the grand finale, Warren gave a glimpse into the years of outstanding research and development that has created a biosensor that will someday soon be a standard of care in every hospital. ivWatch took home third place at the grand finale.
IV therapy is the cornerstone of hospital care, offering what seems to be such a simple yet life-saving pathway for the vital needs of patients every single day, yet 50% of those IVs will fail. Patients deserve better outcomes, clinicians deserve better technologies and workflows, and the Startup World Cup helps to bring this message to a larger audience.
The Startup World Cup is the largest competition of its kind in the world, with over 100 regional competitions, bringing together the best of the best startups globally, VCs, entrepreneurs, and world-class tech CEOs. Previous speakers at the competition have included Steve Wozniak, Barbara Corcoran, and Reid Hoffman.
