ivWatch Featured in Exclusive NICA Infusion Center of Excellence Experience

NICA partner showcasing patented IV safety technology at annual conference

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — June 5, 2024 ivWatch, LLC, the IV safety company, today announced it will be a key participant at the NICA Infusion Center of Excellence (NICE) Experience at the National Infusion Center Annual Conference (NICA2024) taking place at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Exhibit Hall on June 21st and 22nd.

Providing an insider look at the ideal infusion center model for clinicians, administrators, managers, and owners, the exclusive, invite-only NICE Experience is an educational, interactive mock infusion center showcasing best-in-class products and equipment that enhance operations and promote patient safety. Products and technologies that improve patient care and advance patient safety will be prominently displayed, and clinical experts and assessors from the NICA Accreditation Program will be on hand to educate and engage with attendees. Both new and seasoned infusion providers will come away with actionable insights to elevate the level of care they provide their patients.

A NICA partner, ivWatch will also showcase its continuous IV site monitoring technology at its booth (207), and company experts will be meeting with infusion center owners, managers and clinicians to educate them on the hidden dangers of infiltration and extravasation. They will also discuss the inherent risk this clinical gap poses to their organizations, and the importance of early detection and improving patient safety.

“We’re looking forward to being part of the NICE Experience and partnering with attendees to unlock their full potential for safer IV therapy,” said Erin Wendell, Chief Marketing and Communications Officer at ivWatch. “What seems like a simple infusion comes with unknown dangers for the patient and the provider; it is our mission to educate, partner, train and champion for safer clinical practice through innovative solutions to help reduce the severity of IV injuries.”

NICA and ivWatch are also collaborating on several educational webinars that are relevant to infusion centers, including the recognition and interventions of early stages of IV extravasations to help promote safer delivery of IV therapy. Webinar details will be released as they become available.

The NICA/ivWatch partnership comes at a monumental time of global adoption for ivWatch, as the company expands its reach to patients in all care areas that provide essential infusions. The company recently received 510(k) clearance for iron sucrose-based infusions to better protect patients not only from IV injuries but the specific lifelong effects of irreversible skin staining that occurs with iron extravasations.

About ivWatch, LLC
Founded in 2010 and holding nearly 70 patents, ivWatch developed a first-of-its-kind Class II medical device, cleared by the FDA and CE-marked, that uses visible and near-infrared light and a predictive algorithm to continuously monitor peripheral IVs and aid in the early detection of IV infiltration and extravasation events. These events are common and can lead to severe consequences ranging from dosing errors, scarring, skin staining, nerve damage, amputation, and even death.

The ivWatch patient monitoring system performs over 18,000 checks per hour for signs of IV infiltration and extravasation, notifying healthcare workers of fluid leaking outside of the vein in real time to reduce severe adverse outcomes.

In 2023, the company surpassed more than 30 clinical bodies of evidence. It was named to Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies 2024 list and was also awarded a PM360 Innovative Health Award in the Health-Tech/Non-Consumer category and named a Fierce Life Sciences Innovation Award finalist for medical device innovation, both in 2023.
