Ending the Culture of Silence of IV Safety: A Cautionary Tale

This moderated discussion led by Gary Warren, ivWatch President and CEO, will allow attendees to hear a firsthand experience of a top United States children’s hospital, Nationwide Children’s Hospital, on its ongoing journey to decrease and eliminate serious patient harm associated with peripheral IV extravasations. The session will explore various initiatives evaluated, executed, or proposed, including continuous monitoring technology, clinical decision support, bedside resources, and predictive analytics to achieve this goal. The panelist, Todd Heslep, BSN, RN, Paramedic, VA-BC, Clinical Leader for the Vascular access team at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, will also examine how the hidden risks of IV therapy have created a dangerous epidemic that is playing out in silence.

“Strategically, our presence at these conferences in the UK is particularly important as it is a singularly sophisticated market that has recognized and magnified the lurking dangers of IV extravasation and is willing to take a stand to help advance clinical practice,” said ivWatch President and CEO Gary Warren.

The UK conferences represent the beginning of a packed lineup of fall conference exhibitions and speaking engagements, which also includes the Association for Vascular Access (AVA) 2023 Conference in Portland, Oregon (Oregon Convention Center, Portland, October 14-17 – Booth 610) and the  American Nurses Credentialing Center’s (ANCC) National Magnet & Pathway to Excellence Conferences in Chicago (McCormick Place Convention Center, Chicago, October 12-14 – Booth 2018).
